NIKKI WHEELER
For the last eighteen years Nikki has been showing her work at galleries and exhibitions in the UK and overseas. Starting as a pastellist she moved to oils and her subjects are often landscapes, seascapes or figurative works. She is currently experimenting with gouache and is exploring aspects of this medium to convey mood and light.
“I am primarily inspired by light and colour. It is often a fleeting moment or short space of time I’m trying to capture so either I work rapidly on the spot to produce a painting, or do a quick sketch combined with retaining as much as I can in my memory, so I can translate it to canvas back in my studio. What I hope to convey in my work is a brief moment in time where all the elements combine, producing a range of vivid moods and feelings.”
